LETTER TO THE CITY

Welcome to Guadalajara! Cradle of Mexico's greatest symbols: mariachi, charrería and tequila.

Also known as the Pearl of the West, my city is distinguished by the warmth of its people and its rich and varied gastronomy, besides being an avant-garde metropolis that preserves a balance between modernity and history.

In "Guanatos" we live by and for sports, as we have successfully developed some of the most outstanding sporting events worldwide, such as the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011, the Pan American Games in 2011 and the Guadalajara Open WTA 1000 in 2022, among others.

The talent of countless characters flourished here: muralist José Clemente Orozco, architect Luis Barragán, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, as well as outstanding sportsmen such as F1 driver Sergio "Checo" Pérez, boxer Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez and soccer player Javier "Chicharito" Hernández.

At the time, we hosted O'Rei Pelé and Brazil during the 1970 World Cup with the Jalisco Stadium as the venue, and 16 years later we welcomed the "Scratch do Ouro" with arms wide open.
